Susan had it up to here with Slytherins cheating off her exams. So she enchanted a quill, to them her answer would appear different and wrong, but for her they were just as she wrote them, absolutely correct. So as Professor Slughorn gave them back their exams, Susan aced it, as for the Slytherin, Vincent Crabbe, that sat directly behind her raged over his F. She smiled and turned around giving him a thumbs up. She would pay for it later, but watching his reaction was worth it.
She made her way out of the dungeons with a smile upon her face, this day had a good start. Lets keep it that way.

“I’m Susan Bones,” she said, introducing herself as if she hadn’t known this girl for years now. She let out a long sigh, this was going to be hard for her, but as usual, Katie’s happiness would come before her own. “You usually just call me Bones, though.” She rolled her eyes a little, “Pixie and Faerie you seemed to like as well.”
“Well this is the hospital wing, but we’re at school,” she explained. “Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We live her most of the time, except for on holidays. The school is separated into four houses, you’re in Gryffindor.”
“Faerie…” She muttered, listening to the words that Susan was saying. As soon as she finished, a sharp pain went through her head as if someone just drove a rusty metal spike into the middle of her forehead spliting her head in two.
Katie gripping her head tightly, pressing her palm towards her temple as she struggled to keep a straight face. It hurt. The flash of a girl in ebony robes laced with gold flashed within her mind. Next to her was an image of herself but her robes were laced with scarlet. The flash happened but for only a second but the pain was excusiating. “Susan…” She grimaced. “Bones…. We… We are friends…” She muttered, wincing at her words.
Susans eyes widened in worry as she shouted for Madam Pomfrey to come back. Her head snapped back to Katie for a moment, “wait… you remember,” she said, as Madam Pomfrey pushed her away from the bed, telling her that she should go.
But as she should know by now Susan wasn’t going anywhere, what if Katie forgot her again? “No, I’m not leaving, I’m staying right here!” Those three small words had given Susan all the hope she needed, Katie was still in there, hiding in depth of her mind. Somewhere she was lost and that cursed necklace was to blame.

“Your name is Katherine, but you go by Katie, sometimes people call you Bells, as well.”
This question struck Susan deep, she had been worried about Katie losing herself. She hadn’t even begin to think about the fact that this meant, she didn’t remember Susan either. “Because I am- was your best friend.”
It seemed to make sense. “You’re my best friend…” She repeated, rubbing her temples. Nothing seemed to be clicking at all. “I’ll… take your word for it.”
Katie looked around the room once more, trying to see if she spotted something that made sense to her. “Where… am I?”

Susan didn’t lift her face from her hands, instead she just massaged her temple. She only had one option, because she refused to give up on Katie like everyone else had. She was just going to have to rebuild Katies memory from the ground up. “Well I guess for starters you should know your name is Katherine Bell and your in the hospital wing, if you haven’t figured that out.”
She paused for a bit. “Katie or Katherine?” She asked, looking slightly confused.
“If I may ask, why are you so concerned for me? You look like you’re deeply troubled by me loosing my memory…”

Susan took a deep breath, “thats what I thought. Theres a reason for that,” she said, pausing for a moment. “Something… bad happened to you. We were all down at Hogsmeade and some gave you a necklace to deliver to Professor Dumbledore.” She took a moment to let that sink in, but she already looked confused, “you touched it and the problem is, is it was cursed, do you understand? It should have killed you, but it didn’t…” Susan shook her head, maybe she wasn’t the right person to do this after all, “you’ve been in a coma for five months, Katie.”
She listened but nothing seemed to click in her head. “I do not understand…” She muttered, glancing around the room. There were a lot of beds and curtains but she didn’t know what this place was or who she was. Apparently, she was this Katie person since this girl kept calling her that.
“I almost died… but I didn’t… and I awoken from a coma?” She repeated, trying to figure all this out. “It… doesn’t ring any bells… I’m sorry…”
Susan didn’t even know how to begin to explain, what she though should have been painful obvious at this point. The truth was, there was no easy way to put it or to ease into it. “Its doesn’t ring any bells, because there isn’t a bell at all.” She closed her eyes, “you lost your memory, Katie,” she said quietly, burying her face in her hands.
“My memories are gone?” She repeated, a blank look upon her face. “Huh…” She muttered, leaning back into her pillow. “That would explain alot…”

Susan shook her head, “no, not even a little.” She looked at Madam Pomfrey, “can I have a moment?” Susan asked, she wanted to be the one to tell Katie what had happened. The nurse nodded and shuffled away without another word.
Susan sat down on the stool that she was all too familiar with, pushing her hair behind her ear as she tried to think of a way to begin. “Ka-” she hesitated, clearing her throat, “what can you remember? Think really hard.”
Katie looked down at her hands which were enclosed on her lap. She tried to think but she couldn’t remember anything at all. “Nothing much, miss… It was just…” A light shudder went through her body as the sudden darkness closed around her. Dampness and iciness wrapped around her body like a blanket as she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. “I just… remember… darkness…” She breathed out a shaky breath.

“Who’s…. Bell?”
“…you! You’re Katie Bell…”
“I’m sorry… but I don’t know who that is….”
Susan looked at Madam Pomfrey who simply shook her head in sympathy and it dawned on Susan. “No!” her eyes turned back to Katie, “no…” she said, her voice hardly a whisper, her eyes brimming with devastation.
Susan had never given up, because she knew there was some small possibility of Katie coming back, but this wasn’t Katie anymore and suddenly she felt helpless as everyone else must have been feeling. Her heart weighed down as she stared down at the girl who was once her best friend. The sleeping beauty that she had been looking over for five months.
Was she ever going to get her best friend back?
Katie looked at her with such confusion. Who was this girl and why did she look so sad? It looked like she just lost something…
She felt like she lost something too but she couldn’t remember what it was. What would it have possibly been? “Are you okay, miss?” She asked.
Susan shook her head, “no, not even a little.” She looked at Madam Pomfrey, “can I have a moment?” Susan asked, she wanted to be the one to tell Katie what had happened. The nurse nodded and shuffled away without another word.
